With the acquisition of Icon Inks, Marabu expands its global footprint and focuses on water-based printing technologies and textile printing.
The acquisition of Icon Inks also strengthens Marabu’s Asian presence.

The purchase of Icon Inks allows Marabu to expand its addressable segments to include textile printing. âWe are always looking to identify segments with strong future prospects. Until recently, our focus had deliberately not included textiles, âsays Jon Bultemeyer, Executive Vice President, Screen Printing and Pad Printing Inks Business Unit.
âBut the market environment is very dynamic, and it is important that our activity is large. Textile printing remains one of the world’s largest screen printing segments. Icon Inks is a leading brand, and this acquisition gives us access to new markets and new ones Icon Inks has a strong presence in Asia and is a valuable addition to our existing Marabu inks offering. By expanding our product portfolio, we are now able to offer screen printing inks for textiles in addition to our pad printing solutions.
The Asian presence of Marabu
The acquisition of Icon Inks also strengthens Marabu’s Asian presence. To ensure local customer service and support, staff will be spread over three locations. East China will be advised and assisted from the regional headquarters in Shanghai and South China from Shenzhen. In addition, the ink manufacturer has a third site in Hong Kong. All three report to Alexandra Taulin, Managing Director of Marabu Shanghai.
