Arts District New Orleans announces “Jammin on Julia”


NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Arts District New Orleans (ADNO) is pleased to announce the return of Jammin’ on Juliaan artistic spring stroll + music festival hybrid event in the neighborhood. Jamming coincides with the gallery openings on the first Saturday, May 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. In addition to the Art Walk, the Neighborhood welcomes guests to a Neighborhood Night with world-class art exhibits along and around Julia Street, with musical performances at select galleries on Julia, Camp and Magazine Streets , and food trucks and bars on the closed 400-600 blocks of Julia. The event is free and open to the public and is an ideal opportunity to stroll through the historic Arts District and experience contemporary New Orleans art, music and cuisine.

Guests are invited to enjoy 15 incredible art exhibitions, 8 live musical performances in select galleries and libations for sale to benefit the ADNO association. The event will feature cuisine from local vendors Crêpes a la Cart (savory and sweet crepes), Southern’s Food Truck (Cajun/Creole), Da Grillmaster (BBQ), Tanjariné Kitchen (Afro-vegan) and artisan popsicles from Big O’s Pops. Musical performances by local musicians with a wide variety of sounds will take place at LeMieux Gallery, JONATHAN FERRARA Gallery, Arthur Roger Gallery, Degas Gallery and Ariodante Gallery on Julia Street, in addition to the Octavia Art Gallery (Magazine St.), Ibis Contemporary Art Gallery (Rue Camp) and SPILLMAN | BLACKWELL Fine Arts (Camp St.). Outside on Julia Street, the block party will feature New Orleans DJ Funke all evening, with live paintings by local artists Monica Kelly and Brent Houzenga, and kinetic sculptures by John Poche.
